What inspired you to build your homelab, and what’s its main purpose today?

I needed a cluster for software development and I didn’t like the tower hardware and loud dell poweredge t640 in my office, so I tried to make the best use of the small space I had in my laundry/beverage fridge room.

What’s one part of your setup (hardware or software) that you’re especially proud of — and why?

It’s cool that you can fit two MS-01 (with a4000ada sff) in the space of a little over 1U and with adequate cooling get a cluster, gateway, UPS, and 10GB in two 6U (14” deep) side by side. With a total of 4 possible, I currently have 3 MS-01. I tried to pack as much power in this tiny condo space as possible.

What are your next plans, experiments, or dream upgrades for your lab?

Just focusing on coding, screwing around with hardware sucks.
